Art Piece

I’m humbled for the credit and profoundly grateful to have done this art piece. Somehow words cannot express this creative process. This drawing came to me not just like a pencil sketch from my hand, it was not technical drawing, it was a reflection of the heart. It was something more powerful manifesting through me. I was just the vessel.
When I saw a preview if the film I knew this story and it hit a side of me a bit too familiar for I too went trough something similar with my dad even a few tears came out.
I think the film Me Voy is something that a lot of people can relate to. But this art piece was not just for a random film, it was made reflecting on a particular actor who saw me grow up and was my teacher and mentor and, in some way, also a bit of a father figure and inspiration.
I have to thank puertorrican actor Carlos Miranda for those formative years of teaching and caring. I haven’t seen him in years and when I saw the movie I knew immediately that I needed to draw him and felt the urge to do a portrait on this particular scene.
As I drew this, my hands were guided by feelings that were captured in my soul. I was touched by the film, the acting and character development.
I was touched by a script that was written with heart, soul, sweat and tears.
Most of all I was impressed by the talent of Vance McLean Ball to produce this work of art. Thank you. ![]()

And last but not least, I invite anyone who has the chance to see this movie to go see it. Is a timeless masterpiece.
