PET FRIENDLY SHELTERS

Osceola County Emergency Management in partnership with Osceola Animal Services, the American Red Cross, and the School District of Osceola County offers pet friendly sheltering. Only certain shelter facilities are designated as “pet friendly”. As with all shelters, specific locations are announced prior to an event. However, in an effort to better help our citizen’s plan and prepare for an emergency, the 3 “pet friendly” shelters are Harmony, Kissimmee Middle, and Liberty High. Emergency managers will still determine resource requirements based on the actual threat. If you intend to evacuate during a hurricane or other situation, please contact the Office of Emergency Management for specific details regarding pet friendly shelters at (407) 742-9000.

SHELTER LIST

Osceola County shelters will only be listed here upon their activation. It is the responsibility of the citizens to check local television and radio stations, the Osceola County Citizen Information Center at (407) 742-0000, as well as your weather radio and other resources for accurate, up-to-the-minute, open shelter location information when needed.

SHELTER IN PLACE

Many emergencies require you to shelter in place. Hazardous materials incidents are an example of an emergency which may require you to stay-put. Your venturing outside or going anywhere may pose a great risk to yourself or your loved ones.

SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAM

Florida Statute requires county emergency management to provide the leadership and direction to effectively care for the community of special needs individuals in times of disaster.
